How Long To Bake Cake Muffins

Basic Muffins

A batch of nine homemade muffins in paper liners.

What could be nicer than warm muffins in a napkin on the morning breakfast table? And they are so quick and easy to make, particularly since the ingredients are only lightly mixed, not browbeaten smooth.

Ingredients

Makes 12 muffins

2 cups white flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ teaspoon common salt

ii tablespoons sugar

ane egg, slightly beaten

1 loving cup milk

¼ cup melted butter

Step ane

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Butter muffin pans. Mix the flour, baking powder, common salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Add the egg, milk, and butter, stirring merely enough to dampen the flour; the concoction should non exist smooth. Spoon into the muffin pans, filling each cup about ii-thirds full. Bake for about twenty to 25 minutes each.

Blueberry Muffins

Use ½ cup sugar. Reserve ¼ cup of the flour, sprinkle it over 1 loving cup blueberries, and stir them into the batter last.

  • For all the people who gave this a low rating: this recipe is a traditional muffin recipe and is absolutely correct! These are true muffins, not the overly-sweetness cupcake-blazon things people call muffins today. They are meant to be served warm from the oven with some butter and perhaps jam. Try it!

  • I think Epicurious meant " Biscuits" or scones.. While this muffin is really bad but it taste expert with my homemade gravy.. That crumbly " Muffin" texture goes super skilful with sauces and Gravy... but equally muffins Naww I dont think its the creator's mistake about likely Epicurious swapped the titles or something

  • This is my become to recipe for basic muffins. My kids and I really like it. This isnt a cake-similar muffin similar sold in stores. I employ this to make make breakfast muffins and add together butter and beloved to it at the stop. I only change a couple of things. I use 2oz of applesauce to substitute the egg (I don't even add the sugar) and I only use 1 tsp of baking pulverization. I mix all the moisture ingredients together and slowly add them, in example at that place feels similar too much water. Y'all don't want the mix runny simply just right. Thanks for sharing!

  • I think this is an okay base recipe, simply hither's what I did to produce a richer flavor.   • I have discovered something in previous attempts at making these add the milk before the butter. Add your butter last or the saccharide and flour will soak it upwards leaving a dry mess. Do not just throw everything in i basin without having an order to information technology.

  • Reviewed years agone and feel compelled to leave a second review. Come on, folks. Let's employ some perspective here. This recipe is from an old cookbook of archetype American recipes. This recipe is a nifty representation of what muffins actually were - prior to the oversized hunks of cake laden with corn syrup, preservatives and trans fats so commonly found in supermarket bakeries, Costco and Starbucks today. They are not cake and they are non oversized. And they come from a time well earlier before most half of Americans were considered overweight. It is totally cool to prefer big, sugary, cake like muffins. Merely it's non cool to track on a recipe that is something entirely unlike than that (and some might contend much closer to what an bodily muffin is supposed to be.) I tin can see a low rating given your personal preference, simply OMG - demanding that epicurious remove it from this site? Seriously?

  • These muffins were brutal. The was no vanilla extract, leaving them tasting quite bland. There is to much flour. The batter was so thick I thought I was making breadstuff, it was as thick as play-dough. There was too a lot of baking powder.

  • I signed upward just to give this review. This recipe was just savage. Followed the recipe to a tee and it plainly sucks. Bland, tasteless and all the wrong ingredient measurements.

  • these muffins have WAY also much flour, besides much baking powder and is overall just not a good recipe. even after calculation a bit more liquid, they were still terribly tough, sour and had a terrible consistency. i would never always make this recipe over again.

  • This is exactly what is it: a basic muffin recipe and it is great! The first couple times I broiled these, they were banal, and I thought, "Well, they're non very skillful." Then I realized that this recipe was the starting bespeak for me to be creative. I have made several versions of this with different flavor combinations. I have used orange and lemon zest, almond and orange extract, blueberries, raspberries, brownish sugar, even Bacon! The recipe, as is, will produce a very skillful quality, only bland, muffin. Retrieve of it as a canvas for creating new recipes. Relish!

  • Saw this for what it was - a basic muffin recipe to base of operations your ain flavours on. Added vanilla essence, blueberries from the garden and brown carbohydrate on top. Perfect.
